This modification in the source code is to accommodate a detailed DDR state machine. Several counters are implemented in DRAM to fetch relevant statistics. Different components of power values during a simulation, are calculated as explained in the technical note by Micron (Micron Technology Inc., Calculating Memory System Power for DDR3., 2007). Changing DRAM model will require changes of parameters in the DRAMspecs.h . Start time of the newly created flag "DDR3mem" is the start time of the stats for DRAM model.
